About us
About WaterDamageClaims
WaterDamageClaims is an independent service that helps homeowners in England and Wales get a fair outcome on a water damage insurance claim. We give straight, honest answers, always from the claimant's side, and we can introduce larger claims to an independent loss assessor who works for you, not the insurer.
What we do
Water damage, which insurers call "escape of water", is one of the most common and most disputed home insurance claims there is. The gap between a fair settlement and a low one usually comes down to how the claim is evidenced and argued. We exist to help homeowners close that gap. We explain how to claim, what your policy covers and excludes, how to maximise a settlement, and what to do when a claim is denied, underpaid or delayed.
For larger or contested claims, we can introduce you to an independent loss assessor. Every enquiry starts with a free, no-obligation claim review.
Whose side we are on
We are on the claimant's side. A first "no" from an insurer is a decision, not a fact, and a low first offer is usually negotiable. Our guidance leaves the trade-offs in and never over-claims, because candour is the whole point of this site. We will tell you honestly when a claim is worth pursuing, and when it is not.
How our introductions work
If we introduce you to an independent loss assessor, we may receive a fee from that assessor. That fee never changes the honesty of our guidance, and we only ever share your details with your consent. See our privacy policy.
What we are not
Being clear about this matters as much as anything else we say:
- We are not an insurer and not a loss adjuster. A loss adjuster works for the insurer; a loss assessor works for you.
- We are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, and we are not the FCA.
- We do not handle or settle claims ourselves. We provide information, and we introduce claimants to independent loss assessors who do.
- Nothing on the site is financial or policy-specific advice. It is general information to help you understand your own claim.
Who we help, and where
We help homeowners, landlords and leaseholders in England and Wales. We focus on this because the routes we rely on, the Financial Ombudsman Service, Flood Re, and the rules on who is responsible for which drains, apply there. We are most useful to people whose claim has been refused or underpaid, and to anyone with a higher-value claim where the numbers, and the way they are argued, really matter.
