Privacy policy
This policy explains what information WaterDamageClaims collects when you ask us to review a water damage insurance claim, how we use it, and who we share it with.
Last updated: 2 August 2026
Who we are
WaterDamageClaims provides general information about UK home insurance claims and can introduce homeowners to independent loss assessors who work on their behalf. We are not an insurer, a loss adjuster, or the Financial Conduct Authority, and we do not give financial advice. For the information you give us, WaterDamageClaims is the data controller.
What we collect
When you submit the claim review form, we collect the details you give us:
- Your name and the phone number and email address you provide.
- Your postcode.
- Details about your claim — what caused the damage, where you are up to, a rough value, and anything else you tell us.
- The page you submitted the form from, and standard technical information such as your request time, kept in our hosting provider's server logs.
How we use it, and our lawful basis
We use your information to:
- Review your enquiry and get in touch with you about it — our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to a request you have made.
- Introduce you to an independent loss assessor who may be able to help with your claim — we do this only with your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the form, and which you can withdraw at any time.
We may receive a fee from a loss assessor if an introduction we make leads to them taking on your claim. This never changes the information in this policy or affects the honesty of the guidance on this site.
Who we share it with
- Independent loss assessors, so they can contact you about your claim — only where you have consented.
- Service providers who help us run the site: our hosting provider (Vercel), our email provider (Resend), and the system we use to manage enquiries (Airtable). They process your information only on our instructions.
We do not sell your information to advertisers or use it for unrelated marketing.
How long we keep it
We keep your enquiry for as long as we need it to help with your claim introduction and to keep proper records, and then delete it. If you ask us to delete your information sooner, we will do so unless we are required to keep it.
Where your information is processed
Some of our service providers may process information outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on their being covered by appropriate safeguards, such as UK adequacy or standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw your consent to us sharing it. To exercise any of these, contact us through our contact form.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
